Wednesday, August 3rd, 2022

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, The Collective PAC — the nation’s largest political action committee dedicated to increasing Black political engagement, representation, and power across all levels of government —  congratulates Representative Cori Bush and Jamie Johnson on their primary victories in Missouri.

  • Representative Cori Bush is running for re-election to Missouri’s First Congressional District. Congresswoman Bush is an activist, nurse, pastor, and community leader. During her first term, she introduced transformative legislation such as the Green New Deal for Cities and the People’s Response Act to congress. Rep. Bush also rebuilt crumbling infrastructure, cleaned up the community’s natural resources, like Coldwater Creek, and led a national campaign to prevent people from being evicted. If re-elected, Congresswoman Bush seeks to keep advocating for voting rights, fighting for reproductive rights, and transforming public safety.

  • Ms. Jamie Johnson is running for the Missouri House of Representatives in District 12. Ms. Johnson attended the University of Missouri – Kansas City and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Urban Planning and Design and Master’s in Organizational Development Psychology, and a certification in Executive Leadership Coaching from Avila University. Currently, she serves as the Vice-Chair of the Platte County Democratic Central Committee and sits on the board of directors for the Community Action Agency of Greater Kansas City. If elected, Ms. Jonhson plans to enact legislation that will fully fund public education, support veterans, and common-sense gun laws.
