Tuesday, November 23rd, 2021

WASHINGTON, D.C. Today, The Collective PAC — the nation’s largest political action committee dedicated to increasing Black political engagement, representation and power across all levels of government — endorsed Andre Dickens for mayor of Atlanta, Georgia.

Founders of The Collective PAC, Quentin James and Stefanie Brown James, released the following statement:

The Collective PAC is excited to endorse Andre Dickens for mayor of Atlanta because he has spent the majority of his career serving others. From co-founding the Technology Career Program, designed to prepare unemployed and disadvantaged individuals for a career in the growing technology sector to previously serving as the Assistant Director of Outreach Initiatives for Georgia Tech’s Office of Institute Diversity, Andre Dickens has advanced meaningful inclusion and expanded economic opportunities. During his time on the city council, Councilman Dickens helped to implement a $15 per hour minimum wage for city employees, sponsored legislation increasing annual salaries for senior patrol officers, and established BeltLine Inclusionary Zoning for affordable housing. As Mayor of Atlanta, we know Andre Dickens will champion a new generation of leadership – and will make sure city government works for everyone.”

Dickens currently serves as the Post 3 at-large council member for the city of Atlanta. Since 2013, he has served as chair of the council’s transportation committee, providing oversight of city roads, bridges and the country’s busiest airport. In 2017, Councilman Dickens served as chair of the Public Safety and Legal Administration Committee, during which violent crimes decreased by 12% and homicides went down 33%. Councilman Dickens has also served on the boards of the Atlanta BeltLine, Invest Atlanta and the Center for Civil and Human Rights.

Andre Dickens was born and raised in the city of Atlanta and is a proud graduate of Mays High School, Georgia Institute of Technology and Georgia State University. In addition to serving on the city council, Mr. Dickens works as the Chief Development Officer for TechBridge, a nonprofit that drives community impact by providing affordable technology and business expertise to community organizations. Prior to his work in the nonprofit sector, at the age of 28, Dickens co-founded City Living Home Furnishings and grew the company into a multi-million dollar retail business.
