Friday, April 2nd, 2021

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, The Collective PAC, the nation’s largest political action committee dedicated to increasing Black political engagement, representation, and power across all levels of government, endorsed Shawn Lassiter in the special election for Texas’ 6th Congressional District. Founders of The Collective PAC, Quentin James and Stefanie Brown James, released the following statement:

“The Collective PAC is excited to endorse Shawn Lassiter for the U.S. House of Representatives. A dynamic candidate and progressive fighter, Shawn is committed to advancing equitable policies that will strengthen public schools, tackle the climate crisis, and address the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Texans. Shawn’s experience and passion make her the best candidate to represent the people of Texas’ 6th Congressional District in Washington, where she will be a strong voice for working families and underrepresented communities.  She is the clear choice for voters in the critical May 1 special election and we look forward to supporting her on the campaign trail.”

Shawn Lassiter is an education advocate, non-profit leader, and former school teacher and administrator who has spent her career working to empower the next generation of leaders. She currently works as an executive at Leadership ISD, a non-profit dedicated to advancing racial equity in education. A single mother of three, who’s supported her family during times of economic strife, Shawn will fight to increase funding for public schools, make healthcare more equitable and accessible, and expand economic opportunity for all Texans once she’s elected. Shawn is a proud first-generation college graduate who holds a bachelor’s degree from Alabama State University and a Masters of Public Administration from the Forbes School of Business.
