The Collective PAC Congratulates Our Endorsed Candidates On Congressional Primary Victories

Monday, May 23rd, 2022

WASHINGTON, D.C. Today, The Collective PAC  — the nation’s largest political action committee dedicated to increasing Black political engagement, representation, and power across all levels of government  —  congratulates our endorsed congressional candidates in Kentucky, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania on their primary victories.

Kentucky:

  • Hon. Charles Booker is a graduate of the University of Louisville where he received both a bachelor’s and a law degree. He knows what it’s like to be homeless, hungry, and ration insulin.  Those experiences have shaped him into the kind of leader that believes that the government should work for everyone, regardless of income or skin color. Mr. Booker, if elected in the fall, will make history as the first Black United States Senator from Kentucky.

North Carolina:

  • Hon. Cheri Beasley is running to represent North Carolina in the United States Senate. She has a long track record of serving the people of North Carolina as a District Court Judge for the 12th Judicial District in Cumberland County, an Associate Judge on the North Carolina Court of Appeals, and the first Black woman Chief Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court. If elected, Ms. Beasley will be the first Black person to represent North Carolina in the U.S. Senate.

  • State Senator Valerie Foushee (NC – 04) is running to represent North Carolina’s fourth congressional district. Over the past 24 years, State Senator Foushee has gone from serving on the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City School Board, to being the first Black woman elected to the Orange County Board of Commissioners, to serving in the North Carolina State House and then the State Senate. If elected to Congress, she will be a champion for working families, fight to reform the criminal justice system, and fight against climate change.

Pennsylvania:

  • Congressman Dwight Evans has been a dedicated public servant for the communities in Pennsylvania since 1980. Currently, he represents Pennsylvania’s Third Congressional District, where he has been a passionate advocate for creating jobs and stimulating economic growth; and with this re-election, he is committed to investing in education and fostering stronger communities throughout Pennsylvania.

  • State Representative Summer Lee is running for Pennsylvania’s 12th Congressional District. As a State legislator, she has fought tirelessly to lift up movements and bring real change to her community. If elected, State Representative Lee plans to fight for economic justice and union jobs, justice reform, and environmental justice.

Founders of The Collective PAC, Quentin James and Stefanie Brown James, released the following statement:

“The Collective PAC is proud to congratulate Hon. Charles Booker, Hon. Cheri Beasley, State State Senator Valerie Foushee, Congressman Dwight Evans, and State Representative Summer Lee on their primary victories in Kentucky, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania. We are proud that these agents of change are continuing their political journey to the November ballot. The Collective PAC is also thrilled to have several history-making candidates breaking glass ceilings, racial barriers, and fighting for equity in government.”
