Justice For All Initiative

The Collective’s Justice For All Initiative

In an effort to elect more Black leaders to impactful positions of power within the criminal justice system, The Collective PAC, in partnership with its 501(c)4 affiliated organization Collective Future, is proud to launch The Collective’s Justice For All Initiative. This groundbreaking program will focus on recruiting and supporting Black candidates committed to unapologetically pursuing justice and progressive criminal justice reform. According to the Women’s Donor Network, 95% of elected prosecutors are white and 96% and 82% of Republican and Democratic candidates for political office are white.

The Justice For All Initiative will serve as a key component of The Collective’s work to close the representation gap of Black leaders serving in the following key positions that make and administer the law:

Attorneys Generals are the chief legal officers in the state, propose legislation, handle criminal appeals and high-level criminal prosecutions, and represent the state and state agencies before federal and state courts

District and State’s Attorneys decide when an arrest leads to a charge and whether to prosecute a criminal charge

Judges enforce the law, determine the length of sentencing defendants, while also establishing court rules and procedures

Sheriffs are the chief civilian law enforcement officers of their districts and enforce the law

The Justice For All Advisory Board

A board of esteemed leaders within the criminal justice system and former candidates previously endorsed by The Collective PAC has been established to advise the JFA team on recruitment strategies for potential candidates and raise awareness about the importance of Black representation in seats of power throughout the criminal justice system. Members of the advisory board include:

Kim Foxx — Cook County State’s Attorney (IL)

Rachael Rollins — Suffolk County District Attorney (MA)

Justice For All Trainings

Through The Collective PAC’s affiliated 501(c)4 organization, Collective Future, the Justice For All Initiative will offer culturally competent training for Black lawmakers and staffers on how to run successful campaigns and prepare for challenges that may arise when pushing for progressive criminal justice reform on the campaign trail and in office.

The training will also build out policy resources focused on tracking and formulating effective strategies for policymakers to craft solutions, with a focus on wrongful convictions, trial penalty, mass incarceration, recidivism, and police accountability. JFA candidates will have the forum to share best practices and new innovations that will help the movement for criminal justice reform grow across the country.

Attend our event!

Our second speaker series event of 2021 focuses on the importance of Black leaders serving in positions of impact when it comes to the criminal justice system.

Over the past several years, the debate on criminal justice reform has reached a fever pitch on what real reform looks like. Everything from creating police accountability to rebuilding a foundation on a system that has never treated everyone equally in the eyes of the law ultimately comes down to the people determining the policies and their experience.

Join Portsmouth (VA) Commonwealth attorney Stephanie Morales, Del. Jay Jones (Candidate for VA Attorney General), and Alvin Bragg (Candidate for Manhattan District Attorney) as they discuss their ideas on what can and should be done to close the gap in representation in these impactful positions as well as what will it take to make the criminal justice system truly just.

We can’t wait to see you there! RSVP TODAY!
