This groundbreaking program will focus on recruiting and supporting Black candidates committed to unapologetically pursuing justice and progressive criminal justice reform. According to the Women’s Donor Network, 95% of elected prosecutors are white and 96% and 82% of Republican and Democratic candidates for political office are white.
The Justice For All Initiative will serve as a key component of The Collective’s work to close the representation gap of Black leaders serving in the following key positions that make and administer the law:[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Attorneys Generals are the chief legal officers in the state, propose legislation, handle criminal appeals and high-level criminal prosecutions, and represent the state and state agencies before federal and state courts
District and State’s Attorneys decide when an arrest leads to a charge and whether to prosecute a criminal charge
Judges enforce the law, determine the length of sentencing defendants, while also establishing court rules and procedures
Sheriffs are the chief civilian law enforcement officers of their districts and enforce the law[/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=”The Justice For All Advisory Board” font_container=”tag:h2|text_align:left|color:%23145d93″ use_theme_fonts=”yes” css_animation=”fadeInUp”][vc_column_text]A board of esteemed leaders within the criminal justice system and former candidates previously endorsed by The Collective PAC has been established to advise the JFA team on recruitment strategies for potential candidates and raise awareness about the importance of Black representation in seats of power throughout the criminal justice system. The training will also build out policy resources focused on tracking and formulating effective strategies for policymakers to craft solutions, with a focus on wrongful convictions, trial penalty, mass incarceration, recidivism, and police accountability.
