Organizational Overview

Founded in 2016, The Collective PAC is working to fix the underrepresentation of Black people in elected office at all levels of government. Through strategic investments in Black candidates, targeted voter engagement, and leadership development programs, The Collective PAC is building Black political power and increasing representation across the United States. To date, the organization and its affiliates have raised over $50 million, supported the election of more than 500 Black candidates, and trained over 2,000 individuals through its signature training initiatives. Position Summary

The Executive Director will serve as the chief executive of The Collective PAC, providing visionary leadership, managing daily operations, and driving forward the organization’s mission to build Black political power. This individual will lead all aspects of programmatic, political, fundraising, and administrative work, and will serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders—including Black elected officials, political partners, donors, staff, and the media. 

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Organizational Management
  • Develop and execute organizational strategy in partnership with the co-founders.
  • Oversee the implementation and performance of programmatic and political initiatives.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a high-performing team with a culture of accountability and equity.
  • Develop and maintain internal systems to track impact, goals, and growth.

Political Strategy & Candidate Engagement
  • Serve as the organizational point of contact for current and prospective Black elected officials across the U.S.
  • Manage the endorsement process, including distributing candidate questionnaires, vetting candidates, and recommending endorsements for board approval.
  • Recommend spending allocations to support Black candidates and mobilize Black voters.
  • Write and implement 501(c)(4), coordinated, and/or independent expenditure campaign plans at the local, state, and national level.
  • Track emerging electoral and leadership opportunities for African Americans in elected or appointed office.
  • Develop and lead candidate recruitment and training efforts.
  • Build, manage, and maintain a comprehensive database of all Black elected officials at the local, state, and federal levels.
  • Track legislative and policy opportunities and victories that align with the organization’s values and mission.
Program & Campaign Leadership
  • Recommend and advise on the development and national execution of a large-scale voter registration and voter contact campaigns across at least 8 states.
  • Spearhead the development, launch, or acquisition of local and state-level Collective PAC affiliates nationwide.
  • Manage elected official engagement including speaker requests, digital collaboration, and public appearances.
  • Manage vendor relationships for paid media and paid field campaigns.
Fundraising & Financial Management
  • Lead fundraising strategy and execution, including solicitation of major donors, writing and submitting grants, and overseeing digital fundraising programs.
  • Cultivate relationships with donors and institutional partners.
  • Oversee the organization’s budget and ensure financial sustainability and transparency.
Communications & Coalition Engagement
  • Represent the organization publicly, serving as a compelling and credible spokesperson.
  • Build and maintain strategic coalitions and partnerships in service of The Collective PAC’s mission.
  • Manage relationships with political and advocacy organizations to strengthen impact.

Qualifications

Required

  • A minimum of 7–10 years of senior-level leadership experience in electoral politics, campaign management, nonprofit leadership, or political advocacy.
  • Proven experience developing and executing large-scale political or voter engagement programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multi-state operations, coalitions, and campaign vendors.
  • Strong fundraising track record, including individual donor cultivation and institutional giving.
  • Experience working with affiliated nonprofit organizations 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), and PAC and Super PAC operations.
  • Deep understanding of Black political leadership, campaign strategy, and the electoral landscape.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; confident public speaker.

Preferred

  • Advanced degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Law, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with tools such as NGP VAN, ActBlue, Google Workspace, and political data systems.

Compensation

This is a full-time position with a competitive salary commensurate with experience. Benefits include comprehensive health insurance, retirement plan options, generous paid leave, and professional development opportunities.

The starting salary for this position is $150,000.
