The Collective PAC Celebrates the Historic Inauguration of Vice President Kamala D. Harris

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, The Collective PAC, the nation’s largest organization dedicated to increasing Black political representation across all levels of government, celebrates the historic inauguration of Vice President Kamala D. Harris, the first Black, the first South Asian and the first woman vice president in the United States. Founders of The Collective PAC, Quentin James and Stefanie Brown James, released the following statement:

“Today is a day of pride for Black America, and for all who believe in equality, fairness and the rule of law. After a tumultuous and traumatic four years under the failed leadership of a racist and bigot, we’re ecstatic to welcome President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris to the White House. We’re hopeful the Biden-Harris administration will not only restore dignity to the offices they now hold but will work to support and build up all Americans; giving a voice to the many communities that have been disrespected, shut out and pushed aside by the Trump administration.

As Howard University alums, we are particularly thrilled to see a member of our Howard family join the annals of history as the first Black woman to serve in the second highest office in the land. In 2016, Vice President Harris was one of the first people The Collective PAC endorsed during her historic Senate run and she remains the embodiment of our mission to ensure that Black people are fully represented in positions of power on the local, state and federal levels of government to create the policies necessary to progress our communities forward. We’re incredibly proud of all she’s accomplished during her time in public office and can’t wait to see her lead us towards better days for all Americans.”

ABOUT THE COLLECTIVE PAC

The Collective PAC is working to create an America where Black people are equally represented at every level of government. The Collective PAC is strategically focused on creating a truly equitable democracy where our nation’s local, state and federal governments have diverse and talented elected leadership and Black people are fully represented in positions of power to create the policies necessary to progress our communities forward.

The Collective Congratulates Incoming DNC Chair Jaime Harrison

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, The Collective, the nation’s largest group of affiliated organizations dedicated to increasing Black political representation across all levels of government, responded to Jaime Harrison’s selection as the next Chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC). Founders of The Collective, Quentin James and Stefanie Brown James, released the following statement:

“We are thrilled to congratulate Jaime Harrison on his appointment as Chair of the Democratic National Committee. As the former Chair of the South Carolina Democratic Party and DNC National Vice-Chair, Jaime has shown time and again that he is a committed and proven coalition builder who understands the importance of supporting Black candidates and the need to invest in the Democratic Party’s most consistent voting blocs. His leadership will be instrumental to The Collective’s efforts to expand the electorate and deepen our work to build a New South that recognizes the power of Black voters and Black candidates in Southern states. We were proud to be an early supporter of Jaime in his history-making campaign for the U.S. Senate in South Carolina, and we are confident that Jaime will bring the same grit and passion he showed on the campaign trail to his tenure as chair.”

The Collective’s Statement on the Second Impeachment of Donald J. Trump

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, The Collective, the nation’s largest group of affiliated organizations dedicated to increasing Black political representation across all levels of government, responded to the U.S. House of Representatives’ vote to impeach Donald J. Trump. Founders of The Collective, Quentin James and Stefanie Brown James, released the following statement:

“Last week, the world watched in horror as thousands of armed white nationalists, at the direction of the president, stormed the United States Capitol in a treasonous attack that left five people dead. Today, we support the decision from the House of Representatives to impeach Donald J. Trump for a second time — and stand with our 17 Collective-endorsed members of the House who voted in favor of impeachment and continue to lead calls for his immediate removal from office.

“Unity cannot happen without justice. After years of peddling baseless conspiracy theories and amplifying white nationalism, the outgoing president and his enablers in the sedition caucus must be held accountable for inciting this violence by far-right extremists, attempting to overturn a free and fair election, and putting the lives of their colleagues at risk. The January 6th coup attempt will forever serve as a reminder of the fragile nature of our democracy and the dark culmination of the disastrous, dangerous, and racist Trump presidency.

“We call on Mitch McConnell to quit playing political games and putting party over democracy. He must reconvene the Senate to swiftly convict Donald Trump in order to begin the next chapter of America; healing, saving our broken democracy, and reckoning with the longstanding racism and injustices that made last week’s attack possible.”

History Made: The Collective Celebrates Historic And Decisive Victory In The Georgia Senate Runoff Elections Spearheaded By LARGEST Rides to Polls Program in History

WASHINGTON, DC – The Collective, the nation’s largest group of affiliated organizations dedicated to increasing Black political representation across all levels of government, is celebrating the historic victory of Rev. Raphael Warnock, the first Black person to be elected to the US Senate from Georgia and the first Black Democrat to be elected to the US Senate from the South since Reconstruction. Rev. Warnock’s historic victory along with the sensational win of Jon Ossoff sets the stage for the US Senate to have a Democratic majority and the US Senate and Executive Branch to have a trifecta of power.

“Time after time it has been proven that Black candidates and Black voters are the difference makers in elections across the country,” said Stefanie Brown James, The Collective’s Co-Founder and Executive Director. “The election of Rev. Warnock expands on what we saw in November – when you invest in and support Black candidates and voters early and often, we will exceed expectations because the quality of our lives rests in the hands of those elected to serve our communities”.

The Black political powerhouse’s fundraising, digital and on-the-ground efforts throughout the election cycle contributed to the historic victory of Rev. Warnock and the hundreds of Black candidates elected in 2020; helping to shift the national political landscape and ushering in a new era of Black representation at all levels of government.

Built off the success of The Collective’s non-partisan Vote To Live Campaign during the general election, the momentum was carried into the Georgia runoff through the implementation of the nation’s largest “Rides to the Polls” program in the nation through a partnership with Lyft.

During the runoff election, The Collective facilitated over 77,000 free Lyft rides to the polls via the promo code GAVOTETOLIVE which was distributed and shared through on-the-ground partner organizations and the digital support of celebrities including Regina King, Issa Rae, Kerry Washington, Michael Ealy, Alfre Woodard and Tessa Thompson.

“After facilitating over 15,000 rides to the polls in Georgia in November, we knew that with sustained investment we could substantially eclipse that effort,” said The Collective Co-Founder and President Quentin James. “We are extremely proud to have successfully produced 5x the number of rides in this runoff election. When Black people are provided with a safe and reliable mode of transportation to the polls, they vote.”

Additionally, The Collective called nearly one million Black voters in Georgia through Vote To Live’s volunteer phone banking program during the general and runoff elections. Finally on the political side of the organization, The Collective raised over $100,000 for Rev. Warnock during the entirety of the election cycle after being one of his earliest supporters.
