WASHINGTON, DC – Today, The Collective PAC, the nation’s largest organization dedicated to increasing Black political representation across all levels of government, celebrates the historic inauguration of Vice President Kamala D. Harris, the first Black, the first South Asian and the first woman vice president in the United States. Founders of The Collective PAC, Quentin James and Stefanie Brown James, released the following statement:
“Today is a day of pride for Black America, and for all who believe in equality, fairness and the rule of law. After a tumultuous and traumatic four years under the failed leadership of a racist and bigot, we’re ecstatic to welcome President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris to the White House. We’re hopeful the Biden-Harris administration will not only restore dignity to the offices they now hold but will work to support and build up all Americans; giving a voice to the many communities that have been disrespected, shut out and pushed aside by the Trump administration.
As Howard University alums, we are particularly thrilled to see a member of our Howard family join the annals of history as the first Black woman to serve in the second highest office in the land. In 2016, Vice President Harris was one of the first people The Collective PAC endorsed during her historic Senate run and she remains the embodiment of our mission to ensure that Black people are fully represented in positions of power on the local, state and federal levels of government to create the policies necessary to progress our communities forward. We’re incredibly proud of all she’s accomplished during her time in public office and can’t wait to see her lead us towards better days for all Americans.”
