The Collective PAC Endorses a Slate of Candidates For State and Local Offices in Texas

WASHINGTON, D.C. Today, The Collective PAC — the nation’s largest political action committee dedicated to increasing Black political engagement, representation, and power across all levels of government — has endorsed 14 candidates running for municipal and state offices across Texas, including: 

  • Albert Roberts is a Fort Worth native and running to be District Attorney for Tarrant County. He aspires to use his knowledge and background from working in the District Attorney’s office to enact transformative change to Tarrant County. 

 

  • Brandon Chase McGee is a graduate of the Congressional Black Caucus Institute, University of North Texas, and Collin College. Currently, he serves on Denton’s Zoning Board; he’s running to represent Place 5 on the Denton City Council to empower and inspire his community. 

 

  • Cedric Kanyinda is a graduate of Tarrant County Community College and Texas Woman’s University. He is running to represent Tarrant County as Commissioner in Precinct 4; he aims to create opportunities for economic development and community advancement. 

 

  • Deborah Peoples has over 30 years of experience as a business executive and former Tarrant County Democratic Party leader. She is running to be Tarrant County’s newest judge; her progressive leadership and her advocacy for the community drives her to push for the betterment of Tarrant County. 

 

  • Dexter McCoy is running to be the Commissioner of Fort Bend Precinct 4. He plans to invest in neighborhoods, infrastructure, and new technology that will bring new energy to county leadership and to maximize their potential.

 

  • Councilmember Jamell Johnson is running for re-election for Little Elm Town Council. He made a historic victory in the special election; the army veteran aspires to continue to strengthen public safety, stimulate economic growth, and promote and advance public education. 

 

  • Jeca Williams is a small business owner, teacher, and native Texan who is running to represent Precinct 2 as the Justice of the Peace in Tarrant County. She plans to use her knowledge of resolution mediation to serve and foster relationships with the community. 

 

  • Jolanda Jones is running to represent the 147th District as their State Representative. She is passionate and ready to protect voting rights, expand access to affordable health care, and give kids a first-class education.

 

  • Jonathan Hildner is running for the Texas State House to represent District 54. Mr. Hildner founded Let’s Move Killeen, a nonprofit organization that focuses on the advancement of the community politically, socially, and economically; he believes in providing access to clean water, expanding infrastructure, and protecting and advocating for veterans.

 

  • Judge Kenneth Sanders is running for re-election in Precinct 7 to be Justice of the Peace in Tarrant County. He wants to continue his legacy of being a servant for justice and advocating for transparency within the criminal court and the community to foster a positive environment. 

 

  • Katherine Thomas is a Houston native and running to be the 184th Criminal District Judge. She aspires to use her knowledge and work legacy as a prosecutor to bring government transparency and accountability to the 184th District.

 

  • Rodney Lee is a retired Navy veteran and a retired probation officer from Tarrant County Juvenile. Mr. Lee is running to be the Justice of Peace in Precinct 4 for Tarrant County, he plans to restore trust and integrity to the judicial system and the community.  

 

  • Theldon R. Branch is running to represent District 4 for the Texas State Board of Education. He is a proud product of the Houston public school system; he plans to advocate for increased funding for public education and staff salaries.  

 

  • Venton Jones is the founder and CEO of Southern Black Policy and Advocacy Network; a nonprofit created to advance the health, social, and economic lifestyle throughout communities in District 100. Mr. Jones is running to be the State Representative for District 100 to bring representation, job opportunities, expand healthcare, and protect voting rights of the district he grew and flourished in as a child.

With the primary season for the 2022 midterm elections kicking off on March 1 in Texas, The Collective PAC is backing a group of strong Democratic candidates with a proven track record of devotion to their communities and a drive to uplift, empower, and push for progressive change that will positively impact their communities.

The Collective PAC is strategically focused on creating a truly equitable democracy where our nation’s local, state, and federal governments have diverse and talented elected leadership and Black people are fully represented in positions of power to create the policies necessary to progress our communities forward.
