Fighting for Equal Representation
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, The Collective PAC — the nation’s largest political action committee dedicated to increasing Black political engagement, representation, and power across all levels of government — endorsed Mike Gipson for re-election in California.
Assemblyman Mike Gipson has represented the 64th district of California since 2014 and has led the charge for education, expanded access to healthcare, addressed homelessness, and criminal justice reform. Currently serving as the Assembly Democratic Caucus Chair, Rep. Gipson is responsible for guiding the caucus in making legislative decisions. Assemblyman Gipson has secured $2.238 billion for the 64th district, funding that will be distributed to several programs designed for the improvement of the district including the Student Success Coach Grant Program, a program dedicated to empowering and serving the needs of low-income students. Before serving in the assembly, Rep. Gipson served as a Carson City Council Member and police officer.
Founders of The Collective PAC, Quentin James and Stefanie Brown James, released the following statement:
“The Collective PAC is thrilled to endorse Assemblyman Mike Gipson for re-election in California. Assemblyman Gipson is not only a good public servant but also a man of the community; he once sacrificed his city council salary to ensure that the community’s needs were met. Rep. Mike Gipson’s passion for the communities of California led to the first state-earned income tax for working families, a comprehensive plan to raise the minimum wage, and the repeal of the maximum family grant that resulted in lifting 135,000 children out of poverty. It’s Assemblyman Gipson’s dedication to improving the quality of life for all Californians that has made The Collective PAC excited to partner with him.”
