Fighting for Equal Representation
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, The Collective PAC — the nation’s largest political action committee dedicated to increasing Black political engagement, representation, and power across all levels of government — endorsed Carla D. Brailey for Lieutenant Governor of Texas.
Carla D. Brailey, Ph.D is a dedicated professor of sociology at Texas Southern University and served as the Vice Chair of the Texas Democratic Party. She holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Texas Southern University and several degrees from Howard University. Dr. Brailey is a sought after subject matter expert in the areas of social justice, diversity and inclusion, Black women and empowerment, and organizational development. Throughout her career, she has worked as a consultant for nonprofits, government agencies, and educational institutions. As Vice Chair of the Texas Democratic Party, she has worked hard to elect more Democrats into office across the state, to ensure that all Texans have strong neighborhood schools, higher incomes, and an economy that works for everyone.
Founders of The Collective PAC, Quentin James and Stefanie Brown James, released the following statement:
“The Collective PAC is excited to endorse Carla D. Brailey, Ph.D. for Lieutenant Governor of Texas. If elected, she would be the first Black person and woman to serve in this office. Dr. Brailey, a 20-year educator and lifelong democratic and movement builder, is exactly the kind of leader that the people of Texas need at this moment. Her top priorities for the state are affordable healthcare, increasing employment opportunities, education, and addressing the power grid. Carla Brailey is the right candidate at the right time and that is why The Collective PAC is proud to support her bid to be the next Lieutenant Governor of the Lone Star State.”
