As Three Influential and Progressive Black Democrats Move On from Congress, Three Inspiring Black Women Answer the Call to Continue their Legacies

WASHINGTON, D.C. Today, The Collective PAC — the nation’s largest political action committee dedicated to increasing Black political engagement, representation, and power across all levels of government — has endorsed three more Black women candidates running for Congress in 2022: 

  • Representative Jasmine Crockett TX – 30 –  is a civil rights and criminal defense attorney and former President of the Dallas Black Criminal Bar Association. She has represented over 5,000 Texans, including 400 protesters pro-bono. Rep. Crockett is the youngest Black woman serving the 87th Legislative Session and is the founder and Vice-Chair of the Texas Progressive Caucus and treasurer of the Texas Caucus on Climate. She is passionate about voting rights, criminal justice reform, reproductive rights, and advocating for working-class families. She is running to fill the seat of Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson.

 

  • Karin Norington-Reaves IL – 1has 30 years of experience in creating employment opportunities, education, advocacy, and community development as the CEO of the Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership, a workforce development agency connecting the community, and business opportunities. Under her leadership, about 100,000 people have received employment and partnered with more than 2,000 businesses for occupational training. Ms. Norington-Reaves is dedicated to expanding healthcare, accountability in public safety, education, and economic and workforce development. She is looking to fill the seat of Rep. Bobby Rush. 

 

  • Senator Sydney Kamlager CA – 37 – call to action started with assisting on the campaign of Chicago’s first Balck Mayor Harold Washington; later in 1992 during the Rodney King riots, Sen. Kamlager partnered with Rebuild LA and the Los Angeles Festival to restore the surrounding communities. A constant advocate for children, Sen. Kamlager was appointed to the Los Angeles County Commission on Children and Families, as well as elected to the Los Angeles Community College Board. She plans to fight for accessible and expandable healthcare, education, economic development, and criminal justice reform. She is running to fill the seat of Rep. Karen Bass.

Each woman is a dedicated and devoted agent of change in their communities, and all three have been endorsed by the Congressman or Congresswoman they are looking to succeed. We are proud to stand with and champion these women on their path to continue the legacy of progressive change, advocacy for women and children, and representation in their communities.”
