The Collective PAC Congratulates Ed Gainey on his Primary Election Win for Mayor of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, The Collective PAC, the nation’s largest political action committee dedicated to increasing Black political engagement, representation and power across all levels of government, congratulated Ed Gainey on his primary election win for Mayor of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Co-founders of The Collective PAC, Quentin James and Stefanie Brown James, released the following statement:

“State Representative Ed Gainey is a champion for social justice and The Collective PAC is proud to support his bid to become the next Mayor of Pittsburgh. Experienced and committed leadership in city halls across the country is critical as cities like Pittsburgh work to expand economic opportunities, increase access to affordable healthcare and reform the education and criminal justice systems for the betterment of the community. Ed Gainey is a changemaker who is prepared to move Pittsburgh forward and we’re proud to stand with him as he advances to the general election on November 2nd. ”

Ed Gainey (Candidate for Mayor of Pittsburgh, PA) has represented Pennsylvania’s 24th Legislative District in the state house since 2013. A champion for vulnerable communities, Rep. Gainey co-sponsored a bill to create a statewide moratorium on evictions during the COVID-19 pandemic and previously introduced police reform legislation following the acquittal of an officer who murdered an unarmed Black teenager. Once in office, Rep. Gainey is committed to building an inclusive economy that supports all families, rethinking public safety, and increasing investments in affordable housing.
