The Collective PAC Endorses Four More Candidates to Send to Capitol Hill

Tuesday, August 2nd, 2022

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, The Collective PAC  — the nation’s largest political action committee dedicated to increasing Black political engagement, representation, and power across all levels of government — endorsed four candidates for the United States House of Representatives in Illinois, Mississippi, Missouri, and New York.

Illinois

  • Mr. Jonathan Jackson is running for Illinois’ First Congressional District.  Mr. Jackson’s passion for public service is a family legacy, his father is the Reverend Jesse Jackson, Sr., and his godfather was Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He is committed to fighting and advocating for Chicago families and building up the communities in Illinois. If elected, Mr. Jackson seeks to invest in public transportation and the high-speed rail system, fight for stronger gun laws, and invest in early childhood schooling and affordable access to good colleges and vocational schools.

Mississippi

  • Mr. Shuwaski Young is running for Mississippi’s Third Congressional District. Mr. Young worked as the White House appointee to the position of External Engagement Coordinator and managed the “If You See Something, Say Something” campaign. He is a national guard veteran and a graduate of the East Central Community College and Jackson State University. If elected, Mr. Young plans to invest in creating equal access to high-quality food, water, and healthcare and helping small businesses.

Missouri

  • Representative Cori Bush is running for re-election to Missouri’s First Congressional District. Congresswoman Bush is an activist, nurse, pastor, and community leader. During her first term, she introduced transformative legislation such as the Green New Deal for Cities and the People’s Response Act to congress. Rep. Bush also rebuilt crumbling infrastructure, cleaned up the community’s natural resources, like Coldwater Creek, and led a national campaign to prevent people from being evicted. If re-elected, Congresswoman Bush seeks to keep advocating for voting rights, fighting for reproductive rights, and transforming public safety.

New York

  • Ms. Aisha Mills is running for New York’s 18th Congressional District. Ms. Mills most recently served as the President and CEO of the Victory Fund and Institute, is a CNN and MSNBC political commentator, and former Executive Director of the Congressional Balck Caucus PAC. Ms. Mills has spent more than 20 years advocating for underrepresented communities and serves on several boards including the National Institute of Reproductive Health Action Fund. She seeks to advocate for affordable housing, investing in small businesses, and improving transportation and infrastructure in the district. If elected, Ms. Mills would become the first Black lesbian to serve in the United States Congress.

Founders of The Collective PAC, Quentin James and Stefanie Brown James, released the following statement:

“The Collective PAC is proud to endorse Jonathan Jackson in Illinois, Shuwaski Young in Mississippi, Rep. Cori Bush in Missouri, and Aisha Mills in New York. A commitment to public service is one of the most crucial traits a candidate should possess as they run for office, and each candidate possesses this attribute. They each will bring fresh perspectives and new ideas to Congress thanks to their prior experience serving as elected officials, public servants, and community leaders. We look forward to supporting Jonathan Jackson, Shuwaski Young, Representative Cori Bush, and Aisha Mills on the campaign trail.”
