The Collective PAC Endorses State Senator Mia McLeod for Governor of South Carolina

Friday, August 27th, 2021

WASHINGTON, D.C. Today, The Collective PAC — the nation’s largest political action committee dedicated to increasing Black political engagement, representation and power across all levels of government — endorsed State Senator Mia McLeod for Governor of South Carolina.

Senator McLeod, who was elected to the House in 2010 and to the State Senate in 2016, comes from a long line of servant leaders who have run the same small business for over 100 years. As a seventh-generation South Carolinian and small business owner, her roots have kept her in touch with the challenges that families and businesses are facing. She has also worked as an entrepreneur and Chief Executive Officer of her own company and as a college educator.

A seasoned legislator, State Senator Mia McLeod has spent time working in South Carolina’s executive and legislative branches where she worked across party lines with attorneys general and governors on behalf of all South Carolinians. As governor, Senator McLeod will make strategic investments to strengthen her state and improve the quality of life for all residents.

Founders of The Collective PAC, Quentin James and Stefanie Brown James, released the following statement:

The Collective PAC is excited to endorse State Senator Mia McLeod for Governor of South Carolina. It is long overdue for South Carolina, as well as the United States, to have its first Black female governor, and Senator McLeod has the proven track record for it. She is a fierce advocate for: economic and workforce development, access to quality affordable healthcare, higher living wages for all South Carolinians, racial equality and infrastructure improvements. While tackling South Carolina’s domestic violence crisis, she developed the state’s first curricula for law enforcement, judges and victim advocates. Throughout the pandemic, Senator McLeod has fought for COVID-19 relief, standing up to leaders who have mishandled the pandemic thus far. The Collective PAC is proud to support Mia McLeod’s historic candidacy to become the first Black woman to serve as governor of the Palmetto State.”
